Well, it has been a busy weekend and first day to the week. I have been busy painting windows and door frames where the "trio of terror" (a.k.a. our dogs Raleigh, Charlotte and Winston) have ruthlessly scratched and pawed to get to the UPS man, mailman, kids on bicycles or that rogue dog that wanders the neighborhood. It has been fun as I enjoy this time away from the office or hospital and can actually see the results of my labor. So much to do still before we make our way across the country to New Hampshire. Elizabeth says "I should hire you out to paint. You do such a good job!" Truth is... I really do enjoy painting!
I have been having a little more difficulty telling patients I am leaving to head north, and some of my patients have even shed a few tears. For me, it is hard knowing that I will not be seeing these people in a few months. I know I'll continue to wonder how they are and if they are being taken care of in the best way possible, but I cannot remain here for just that reason and my wife needs to have her husband be her husband. I think I'm starting to understand how parents may feel when their children venture out on their own...
